I challenge myself often. Right now I am participating in a DietBet to lose 4 percent of my starting body weight by the end of May. When I saw the Prevention Magazine 28-Day Challenge, I immediately signed up. One of my favorite fitness experts, Chris Freytag, is hosting the Challenge!
Part One of the Challenge is setting an intention. This isn’t all about the number on the scale, it’s about area(s) in your life you want to improve upon.
My intention is less stress and bringing more joy in my life by increasing my weekly workouts, eating better, and indulging in activities that I often say I don’t have the time for! Also, a lower number on the scale wouldn’t be a bad thing! The challenge also encourages meditation. I cannot remember the last time I meditated so sitting for a few minutes and focusing on physical sensations should definitely help create balance.
Part Two of the Challenge is doing 150 minutes of cardio each week. I do this EVERY week whether it be spinning, Zumba, or fitness DVDs. It is comforting to know that by doing cardio I am not only burining calories but reducing my risks for heart disease and diabetes. I notice after I work out I may be sore and broken but my spirits run high!
Something new to me that is part of the Challenge is the ten minute toners. I just started working out with my new personal trainer twice a week so I will ask her to incorporate these weekly toning routines. You can download the workout plan here.
I really like the recipes in the meal plan in Part Four of the Challenge. The meals are fast and easy (mama likey) and all foods I like and normally eat but with a little bit more flavor. The turkey-pecan salad sounds delish and that’s just one of MANY I am eyeing to prepare. I also peeped dark chocolate as part of a daily dessert. YES!
