I am still reeling off the energy from Tuesday’s ESSENCE and Pantene Curly Q’s & Straight Talk event at 48 Lounge in NYC! The invite-only event united women to talk about hair—our crowning glory–and our hair journeys.
The dynamic panel led by ESSENCE Beauty and Style Director, Pamela Edwards-Christiani, included Kela Walker of KelasKloset.com, Renae Bluitt of InHerShoesBlog.com, Haircare Vlogger Tiarra Monet, Hair Expert Mann Nance, and moi. How lucky was I to be on such an amazing panel?! Cynthia from Addicted2Etsy.com and SimplyCyn.com served as the digital MC and captured the spirit of the event.
I enjoyed sharing my hair journey including the peroxide disaster of my high school years (Halle Berry cut ruined by my T-Boz ambitions!), my big chop, and how my hair is a huge part of my healthier living journey. I stressed that you shouldn’t let caring for your hair deter you from hitting the gym and getting your sweat on. Wearing a protective style (braids, bun, etc), a gym wrap or sweat-wicking headband, and making sure to cleanse your scalp post-workout is super important!
Guests enjoyed massages, photo-booth fun, style touch-ups, and signature cocktails and light bites. The beauty, the smiles…the energy was electric and the beauty and fashion was FIERCE! I don’t remember the last time I was surrounded by so much beauty and handsomeness. Yes, there was a few gents in attendance including my Mister!
Again, I am honored and humbled to have participated in this campaign with Pantene and ESSENCE. I am grateful for all the Get Fit Divas that came out, the new divas that have visited/emailed/tweeted me, and my friends and family that came to support. What an incredible experience!
