After weeks of anticipation, the Get Fit Family (myself, my husband, and our two Get Fit Sons) participated in our first family Color Me Rad 5K! We teamed up with COMBOS® Brand at the Color Me Rad run at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to see if the MegaCone (the combination of a Traffic Cone stuffed and a Megaphone) was a #GoodCombo or a #BadCombo. It also made us question if the Get Fit Family’s decision to combine our first family 5K with a Color Me Rad 5K was a #GoodCombo or #BadCombo!
The COMBOS® brand is curious about what happens when you bring two things together. Throughout the summer, COMBOS® has traveled across the country to test interesting combinations of objects, people, and places with the ultimate goal of determining whether each pairing – or, COMBOS® Curiosity – make a good or bad combination. Color Me Rad race participants are expecting to be coated with color by the time they cross the finish line (believe me, we were covered!), but were also met with the unexpected combination of traffic cones and megaphones. During the event, COMBOS intercepted runners and spectators on course and at the finish line to see if the Megacone was a #GoodCombo or #BadCombo.
We started the race amped up and strong! The Color Me Rad 5k began by racing off the field and up the ramps and through the concourse of MetLife Stadium. Everyone’s energy (especially the Get Fit Sons) was energetic and positive! So far, so good! Notice how white our shirts are too!
Here we are after the first blast of color. SO MUCH FUN!
We were intercepted! What do you think – was the Megacone a #GoodCombo or #BadCombo?
We ran most of the race, and I am pretty proud of my Get Fit Sons, for there was nary a complaint except for a too tight sneaker that was easily fixed and requests for more water. We finished strong and under 40 minutes!
Color ME Rad participants joined in on the #GoodCombo and #BadCombo fun!
So was the Megacone a good idea? We thought it was. Everyone had a lot of fun trying out the Megacone and partaking in yummy COMBOS treats! But was the GET FIT FAMILY’s decision to run our first family 5K at the Color Me Rad a good idea? Here ya’ have it:
#GoodCombo! The boys are asking me when OUR next race is and if they can train with me for my 10K! They have caught the running bug so #GoodCombo!

Disclosure: I teamed up with COMBOS this weekend at the Color Me Rad run in New Jersey and received compensation for my participation. All opinions on the race and COMBOS are 100% my own.
