I love this time of the year–the leaves are changing here in the East, the weather is perfect for knee-high boots and peacoats, and I can get my smoothie ON using my favorite seasonal favorites! Lucky for me, I am participating in the Puritan’s Pride Seasonal Smoothie Program and can use their awesome protein powders, supplements, and healthy food products in my smoothies. Puritan’s Pride began over 40 years ago, with the mission of making the finest quality nutritional supplements available at the best value to their customers. This is uber important for a budget-conscious and health-seeking mom and Get Fit Diva like myself. I’m excited to use ingredients from suppliers worldwide that meet their high Quality Assurance Standards, as well as Good Manufacturing Practices food quality standards–foods that I feel good about serving myself and my family.
Smoothies are a great way to pack in nutrients in one delicious drink: but sometimes you can get into a recipe rut. I’ve partnered with Puritan’s Pride to put pizzazz back in my smoothies with protein powders and superfoods-based products that can tuck in more nutrients more efficiently. For the next three months, I’ll be sharing my superfood-packed smoothie and I hope you will share your best smoothie recipes too!
As I finalize the last of my Halloween decorating, it’s time to put a Halloween theme on my smoothies. I decided to bring on my Fall favorite: PUMPKIN. Just saying pumpkin makes me giddy! Pumpkin is a superfood because it is high in Vitamin A, which supports healthy vision and helps support immunity. Also a good source of potassium, pumpkins can help your heart and muscles. An interesting pumpkin fact? Pumpkin seeds are a good source of zinc, a nutrient important for immunity.
Since I’m always on the lookout to add to my smoothie arsenal, I turned to Brooke Alpert, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., of B Nutritious and author of The Sugar Detox for inspiration. In this seasonal smoothie, I will be using pumpkin puree, Now Foods Carob powder, Superior Greens Powder, coconut milk, banana, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, Barney Butter Bare Almond Butter, and Puritan Pride’s Whey Protein Vanilla Bean protein powder for an extra nutritional boost. This sounds like a piece of pumpkin pie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, right? Next time, I am using the Puritan’s Pride Soy Protein Isolate Powder Chocolate. This smoothie is tantalizing for the taste buds and chock full of good for you nutrients.
