In a blink of eye, more than a year has gone by since we adopted our beloved Get Fit Pup (now technically a dog), Yoda. Like his humans, Yoda enjoys the simple pleasures in life and we are so happy to be able to provide these pleasures for him. As a rescue dog, we aren’t sure how his first few months of life really were but we make it up to him everyday and make sure he is loved, cared for, and enjoys his puppy (ok, DOG!) life to the fullest. This includes treats and eats! We appreciate brands like Simply Natural that provide real, good food just what Yoda wants and gives him the nutrition and energy to enjoy his simple pleasures!
Central Garden & Pet Company has 70 years experience in the pet food industry, and the latest premium brand is Simply Natural® dog food. For our dogs, it’s all about the simple pleasures. That’s why Simply Natural® food gets straight to the good stuff with real meat, wholesome vegetables and no grains, artificial flavors or colors. Simply Natural® dog food recipes are grain free and gluten free and are made with real meat as the first ingredient. Simply Natural® dry dog foods are made with a simple, limited ingredient diet recipe that contains chicken or beef as the only source of animal protein to help minimize food sensitivities. It is everything a dog like our Yoda wants, nothing he doesn’t – just real, good food. I like that it has antioxidant nutrients help maintain the immune system, omega fatty acids from flax seed help support a healthy skin, coat and heart, and are free of wheat, corn, soy, potatoes and other fillers for easy digestion.
I keep mentioning these simple pleasures…let me share three of Yoda’s simple pleasures!
SIMPLE PLEASURE #1 YODA and his SUN SPOT
As the days get colder here in the Northeast, Yoda enjoys eating his breakfast and finding one of the many sun spots in our home. Immediately after breakfast, the best sun spot is in the kitchen so I usually take a few calls and do work at the kitchen table while listening to soft music and Yoda’s nearly silent sleeping. During the day, Yoda follows the sun around the house–sometimes you can find him on the stairs, in the boys’ playroom looking out into the driveway, or looking out the front window. The front window is one of his favorite spots because though we live on a quiet street, many people walk their dogs and he has prime viewing for the postman!
SIMPLE PLEASURE #2 WATCHING HIS BOYS (AND SQUIRRELS) PLAY
Yoda loves to play outside but he loves to watch his boys (aka GET FIT SONS) play outside and he loves to watch all the animals play outside. Whether it is a chipmunk, squirrel, or bird, Yoda will run from window to window to watch nature at work. He will even lay outside and watch the squirrels barrel from tree to tree. As he gets older, he is more about watching them intently rather than barking at them. In a way, I feel like they have an understanding between them. They come around (perhaps to taunt them) and it breaks up the day while his boys are away.
SIMPLE PLEASURE #3 LONG WALKS WITH HIS “LADY”
I like to say that Yoda rescued me. A year before adopting Yoda, we moved to a new town. It was hard (for me) at first to make new friends and Yoda became my companion. Yoda is my first dog so I feel like we have a very special bond. While my husband was often away traveling for business and my GET FIT SONS were at school, Yoda and I would enjoy long walks. It is such a simple pleasure to break up my work day (I usually work from home) with a walk. Both Yoda and I benefitted from the Vitamin D from the sunshine, meeting neighbors (and their dogs), and spending quality time together.
Yoda has taught my family to appreciate simple pleasures. We can find him happily lying in his sun spot, watching his boys or animals, or simply going for a long walk and realize we can slow down, live in the moment, and enjoy the simple pleasures in our day like our beloved Yoda does! He wouldn’t be able to enjoy his simple pleasures without quality affordable dog food.
