ProCakes. You had tempted and taunted me since I found out about you via Instagram. I hemmed and hawed knowing that you were pricey but I knew you were delicious (so.much.Instalove) and would give my belly much joy. So I bit the bullet and spent my ducats on eight servings of protein-filled love. Because….pancakes. And of course I want to eat clean(er).
High Protein Pancake Mix Made by ProCakes is made with whey protein and a mix of quality ingredients like almond and coconut flour, paired with a mix of gluten free flours to keep the overall pancake experience just like you’d expect to taste. I was skeptical because I know too well how a pancake should taste. Would ProCakes quell my pancake hunger?
First of all, here’s the nutrition breakdown:
- Only 14 Net Carbs Per Serving
- No Added Sugar
- Gluten Free
- Wheat Free
I decided to make pancakes first. You can also make waffles, muffins…the world is your oyster with this mix. Pancakes are super easy to make with way under 10 minutes for prep time and cook time.
After two pancakes my belly was getting full. ProCakes are uniquely designed to help satisfy hunger while enhancing your diet with the protein your body needs to stay lean and healthy. I also needed water while eating these. These pancakes were thick yet moist. They had a little sweetness–not a lot but just enough that it felt like a real pancake. I would say they were hearty and dense. I saved the third one for later since I was satisfied and I didn’t want to lose my breakfast at Zumba!

I have seen ProCakes topped with a multitude of syrups, fruits, etc. I kept it simple with a lite syrup because I had no sugar free syrup in my pantry. Note to self: purchase SF syrup next time I am at the market.
The verdict? ProCakes taste good. Really good. Don’t go into it thinking it is a IHOP buttermilk pancake. It is not. It also will not wreck havoc with your clean eating. It has a healthy balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates in order to keep blood sugar levels consistent, fuels workouts (right after I burned 800+ calories at Zumba toning) and I didn’t feel hungry until hours later. So I agree…
