I’ve been challenged! It hasn’t been easy.at.all but somehow I’ve got through the first five days (check out Day One) with a few small mishaps (yes, I know I should meal prep!). If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, I’ve been keeping it real and live on my progress through the challenge. Here’s how Day 2 to 5 of Anowa Adjah‘s 30 Day Powerhouse Physiques Challenge went:
Thursday Day 2
I woke up wanting to conquer the world. I started the day with a 5K in the balmy weather. At night I did the Plyometrics Pump. I was Beat with a capital B but I powered through it but burned over 1000 calories with my AM run and did the Plyo DVD in the evening. My eating was on point for the most part.
Egg and spinach scramble, Chia Oats with blueberries, Green tea
Spinach and kale dip, veggies
Leftover cod fillet (2 oz), Trader Joe’s chicken burger, 1 slice of sprouted bread, 1/2 cup of brown rice, 2 cups of fresh spinach, Trader Joe’s champagne vinaigrette (I was beyond hangry)
Nectarine, Green tea
4 Trader Joe turkey meatballs in organic tomato sauce, Spinach salad with champagne vinaigrette dressing
Friday Day 3 (Rest Day)
Friday was tough. I woke up super early and ready to seize the day but Rest Days are important.
I had appointments two hours away and I know from detox-ing before that I would expect a migraine.
Special K with Berries and reduced fat milk, Green tea
1/5 of a Trader Joe’s Kale and Spinach Pie (I know…bad…but let me explain…I needed to have some carbs as I would be driving 4 hours plus so I grabbed these leftover’s from my husband’s lunch) and 1/2 of Brown rice pasta and sauce from the previous night
Almonds, Green tea
And…a slice of sprouted wheat bread and kale/spinach dip because I was fighting a migraine and feeling the most after battling 4+ hours in the car
Grilled steak, shrimp and guacamole on a low carb tortilla, Spinach salad
Saturday Day 4 (Cheat Day, My Mother’s Bday)
This was a bad day and I knew it was going to be. It was my mother’s birthday so I planned it as my cheat day. I did abstain from alcohol (Day 4 and no champagne!) but even though I ate many carbs at dinner, it was small portions. I didn’t get any significant fruits or veggies in. My nutrition was a hot mess and I did not do my workout or my half-marathon run but I did get a kickass facial and massage. Somehow I drank a gallon of water too.
2 ingredient pancakes (eggs and banana), green tea
Shared a fried (yes, fried which is the biggest no-no ever) calamari with balsamic glaze appetizer and lobster mac n cheese appetizer, and shared a paella dinner and still took half of the entree home home; ate two dinner rolls (which was the biggest fail of life) because the wait struggle was REAL at this restaurant. #noselfcontrol
Sunday Day 5
I woke up and my stomach bloat from last week’s Bahamas jaunt has seemed to gone down significantly. I did the Curve Down video in the AM–my boys even joined in:
Thanks to my boys for joining in the fun and helping me push through @anowaadjah Full Body Curve Down. Their commentary made me laugh (“muscle butttssss” “I’m trying this exercise called trying to breathe”). So thankful my family loves to keep #active and #healthy because this is not just my journey but OUR journey. Now off to jump on my Helix Trainer for 30 minutes and off to seize our Sunday! #getfitdiva #fitfam #fitmom #health #fitness #love #ffcheckin #fitfluential #sweatpink #Enell #powerhousephysiques #Polar #m400
Then I did 3 miles on my Helix Lateral Trainer. I burned 800+ calories and got in my gallon of water throughout the day.
Post-workout Premier Protein vanilla shake
2 Turkey hot dog on 2 whole grain light buns with jalapeno sauerkraut, broccoli slaw
Pita chips (the devil’s handiwork) and spinach and kale dip, 1 oz of smoked hot salmon
Chicken chile lime burger with tzaziki sauce, broccoli slaw
All in all I did well. No alcohol but I did indulge in those two dinner rolls, fried calamari (even if it was a half portion) and those pita chips–breaking the no white foods rule big time. I can tell that my belly bloat is going down. I’ve been tracking using my Weight Watchers app and still eating my points but my Activity Points have been going through the roof. And yes I weighed myself and yes I did lose despite Aunt Flow coming to town on today (Day 6). Should be interesting to see how this pans out but I remain focused, will follow the meal guide, the exercises, my half marathon training, and get in my water, veggies, and protein!
The Mister says I’m walking differently…maybe it is because I am sore? This Challenge has been tough especially since it is Labor Day weekend and I want to eat all of the things bur I’ve still been getting my cookout on. How do you think I am doing?
