The past few days have been a whirlwind. As it gets closer to the D&L Half Marathon, I have been strength training, running, working, trying to balance out home life…I’ve been frazzled. So frazzled that yesterday I lost my parking garage ticket in the fifty feet it took me to walk to my truck and tore apart my truck and ground around it on my hands and knees looking for said parking ticket stub when finally I called the parking garage lot hotline for help.
Yup, longest run-on sentence ever.
I’m not saying things like this doesn’t happen ordinarily but it threw a monkey wrench in already hectic day as I tried to balance a day of work, a late lunch friend and her family that is moving out-of-state, dinner with two of my oldest friends that I haven’t seen in eons, and try to get home before the boys’ bedtime.
On Saturday, I woke up ready to conquer the world. It was a fun and fitness packed day. I left the house early to run The Color Run – Lehigh Valley with friends. I hadn’t been on a color-themed race since Color Me Rad with my family last year.
This race was fun and the course was beautiful!
What makes you happy? Of course I had to say my family! What makes you happy? Click To Tweet
Bubbles make me insanely happy and did I mention that there was a woman running dressed as a unicorn? Too awesome and I was jeally. I want a unicorn costume!
I swear I still have color in my hair! I went to a meeting yesterday with a purple spot on my part and I’m pretty sure one of my colleagues had questions he wanted to ask.
At the post-race party, I danced a bit (ok A LOT) and tried to catch some swag. The energy about The Color Run was ridiculous!
I drove back towards home and I raced over to my son’s soccer game and watched him do the darn thang! It is crazy to see how confident he has gotten in just one season. #proudmom
I came home and all I wanted to do is nap
and have pizza but I committed to another 5K, a virtual race benefitting domestic violence sponsored by Black Girls Run. I would have crawled if need be for this cause.
I didn’t even have time to drive over to the park so I did my run/walk through my neighborhood (dreaded hills) and finished. It was slow and steady! Did I mention I loathe running in my ‘hood?
I gave myself a the quickest rinse off in the history of showers and put on my Wonder Woman costume for a Zumbathon that was a bit of a drive (ironically very close to where The Color Run was). I would get there fashionably late but I wanted to support and see my girlfriends. As of lately, it has been a whole lot of work and very little play. I hadn’t seen my friends in a bit.
I loved all the Zumba teachers’ styles. It makes me want to be more active as a ZIN but I have zero time right now. I do want to make it happen in December/January.
After the Zumbathon I was exhausted. Thankfully my bartender, husband decided to celebrate and after I made a zoodle-rific dinner, we had champagne (hers) and beer (his) in his new man cave that my younger son nicknamed Monty’s. Yeah, no clue either!
I clocked in over 30,000 steps on Saturday and when I woke on Sunday I wasn’t too sore so I’m pretty confident I will be O.K at this Sunday’s half-marathon!
