Happy Fri-yay! What an incredible week! If you were in the Northeast like me, you started the week digging yourself out after Jonas dumped more than 2 feet of snow. It was great being snowed in but hard getting back into the grustle (grind + hustle). Here is the Friday Five, fitness, fashion, and other cool posts and articles from the Interwebs this week!
1. Barbie Has A New Body
Stop the presses! Mattel has transformed their iconic doll with new body shapes (curvy, petite, and tall), skin tones and hair that better reflect 21st century America. “We believe we have a responsibility to girls and parents to reflect a broader view of beauty,” said Evelyn Mazzocco, senior vice president and global general manager of Barbie, in a company statement.
I was simply floored to see the new Barbie dolls but then reality set in that it was more a ploy to save the brand, not represent its customers.

2. Winter Running Tips
Since I’m gearing up for another year of getting my run on, I’m always on the lookout for running tips. I don’t do cold weather and the thought of running on a treadmill gives me all of the sads. Women’s Running Magazine has great ways to avoid treadmill boredom and actually (gasp!) enjoy it. Even if you can’t run outside, Strength Running has tips to stay fit this winter.
3. Healthy, Holistic Pantry
Ever since I Marie Kondo-ed the heck out of our pantry (and have to do again because…life), I have been on the look-out to make my pantry the best it can possibly be. Not just aesthetically but also chock full of healthy foods for my family. For me, I am in dire need of my monthly pilgrimage to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods–I live an hour away from both so these four ways to build a holistic, healthy pantry from superfoods to nuts is a must-read.
4. Food, Glorious (Detox) Food
January is coming to a close but there is no end to all to the detox food round-ups, recipes…and I am thankful for that!
