What better way to spend quality time with your sisterfriends, family, AND make new friends than a morning of dancing (and twerking) and shopping for a cause? I can’t think of one! The first FIT SATURDAYS at Bloomingdale’s a fun and fabulous time but it didn’t go down as planned…here’s what happened!

As an Active Ambassador with Bloomingdale’s, I am hosting three Spring events at Bridgewater Commons Mall in NJ and checking out the newest and best of active and athleisure. These free events introduce women to new fitness trends (like fitness dance, twerking, cardio Bellydance, and yoga) and allow us to practice much needed self-care due to busy schedules. Also, attendees enjoy pre-opening shopping, special promotions and deals, a good workout AND a swag bag with goodies from Premier Protein and Adora Calcium. Proceeds from sales benefit Kula for Karma, a nonprofit organization that provides free access to yoga, stress management, and meditation to communities, at no cost, to communities in need.
The morning of the Fit Saturdays event I received news via text that the intended instructor was running late. Literally at the eleventh hour while I was trying to get ready and leave for the event. Thankfully my favorite Zumba instructor Melanie, was able to step in at the eleventh hour. I have said it often but your network is your net worth. Melanie is the best Zumba instructor I know and her Toning class has a standing appointment in my schedule. If you follow me on Instagram, you know this. This snafu didn’t deter from the event…some people didn’t even notice!
Because Melanie knows how to shake it fast…
Get the crowd riled up.
AND she does it with a smile. We even have the opportunity to twerk a bit and ended the class with a Twerkoff, Soul-train style…I’m sure Don Cornelius would have been proud.
I am thankful for my friends and family that came out to support. My 75 year old great-aunt made it and yes, she danced too! My aunt Crystal from My Faith and Fitness has a great event recap as well!
The Mother/Daughter duo from Green Queens were in the house!
Crystal from My Faith and Fitness and my stepmother.
We celebrated a birthday too!
Despite the threat of an April snowstorm and finding a new instructor at the eleventh hour, the event was a success! We had fun and raised funds for Kula for Karma. I hope you join us on May 7th for a special Mother’s Day FIT SATURDAYS!
