Last Sunday was my first race of the year. This
anti-runner kicked off the season with the Rutgers 8K and Half Marathon. Rutgers is my alma mater so when my girlfriends told me they were running it, I had to follow suit!
Rutgers 8K Race Recap & Premier Protein Giveaway
While we are on vacay in London and Paris three weeks ago, I twisted my ankle something fierce. I would love to say I did it doing some crazy fitness stunt but I was waiting with my boys near Big Ben waiting for the light to change to cross the street when a cobblestone/rumble strip/death trap got me. I held back tears and got back to our hotel (thank goodness it was nearing the end of the day). It was only our second day in London so I continued to walk and tour on said bad ankle. Three weeks later, it still isn’t better but the bruising and swelling has gone down…What a blast! Check out @thegetfitdiva Rutgers 8K recap & enter to win @PremierProtein! #MyOneMore Click To Tweet
Having said all that (holy run-on sentences Batman), the night before the race I was scatterbrained, sore, and nervous. I decided on an outfit and posted my Flat Aliah. After a very stressful week at work, I felt like I didn’t know if I was coming or going and like this was like my first race EVER.
Flat Aliah. Not sure if I’m rocking my @altrarunning or @hokaoneone. Not sure if I’m rocking leggings or shorts. Pretty sure I’m not prepared for this race (ankle will be bandaged up) but I’m ready to have some fun! #rutgers8k #rutgershalf #rutgers #almamater #run #fortheloveofrunning #getfitdiva #myonemore #enell
Luckily, my girlfriend offered to pick me up and drive to the race. I was exhausted because I had clocked in an astounding 15 hours of driving commuting this week.
We arrived early and hooked up with the Black Girls Run crew. These ladies are amazing and I always meet new women that are just doing the darn thing–not just in running but in life!
The race was a blast because I ran most of the way, it was at my alma mater, and I got to spend time with my two sister-friends. They are awesome and did I mention they just completed their first marathon. #squadgoals
I ran behind this dinosaur most of the race. Too much fun! Of course, my post-run fuel was my Premier Protein bar. Premier Protein believes that everyone should live a healthy, active life, and nutrition is the cornerstone of that life. However, Premier Protein knows that eating healthy and staying active is challenging in today’s hectic life, so they strive to be your health and nutrition partner—making powerful, healthy choices easy. Premier Protein shakes and replacement bars are delicious! My personal faves are the Chocolate Peanut Butter bar and the chocolate protein shake. YUM! Enter using the Rafflecopter below. Last day to enter is May 6th!
