It seems like I blinked and the summer way over! We had a blast this summer with vacays to Naples, Miami, Jamaica, and the boys enjoyed summer camps (including my oldest who went to a Scholars’ program at a college!). We also stayed active. My oldest son played travel lacrosse and my youngest son went on daily bike rides. Both swam and kept active. We want to keep the momentum going into the Fall so this past weekend we went on riding on the trails.
Enjoyed a great day on the trails with my guys! 🚴🏽♀️This is the first weekend I wasn't stressed to the max and was able to spend QT with my family and BE PRESENT. Also realized my beach cruiser could hang on the trails…barely! #TheDayIsYours #sponsored #family #fitness #howaliahgothergrooveback #cycling #trail #mountainbike #instadaily #bestoftheday #weekend #summer17
Here are 4 ways to fight the blahs as our schedules get more hectic and the weather gets colder:
1. Find ways to exercise indoors AND outdoors.
It’s often hard to squeeze both “me time” and “family time” into our busy days. My boys stay active with their winter extracurricular sports (lacrosse, basketball, and snowboarding). Luckily, we can snowboard as a family! I like to run and walk outside but l’ll hit the gym but if the weather is inclement we have to find ways to keep moving indoors! We have a gym set up in our house (spin cycle, treadmill, and arc trainer) and we can always exer-game.
2. Make meal time a fun time!
It’s easy to get trapped in a food rut in the colder months. Get your kids involved to try new foods. Focus more on fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats. I also make sure Premier Protein bars and shakes are on hand.
3. Meditation and yoga is key!
In my 20’s, I became fascinated with yoga. I engaged in pre-natal yoga and also continued my practice to involve my sons. Yoga and meditation are great ways to unwind after a busy day. Children benefit from yoga practice–we often forget that are “clocking” in hours at school and at play and they need a few moments of calm as well.
4. Get quality sleep!
Fall and Winter can play havoc on our sleep schedules. It is so important for adults AND children to receive enough quality sleep. Lavendar oil helps me tremendously. Can you tell the difference in yourself physically and mentally when you haven’t had a good night’s rest? Of course! Sleep makes the difference!
With these tips in mind, it would be great to win this month’s Premier Protein giveaway!
