I am not one of those women that are afraid to sweat out my hair despite paying hundreds (if not thousands) dollars a year on my hair (ouch–did I just put that out there?).
Black women DO workout. Perhaps it is a legend that we don’t because we don’t want to sweat out our hair (perhaps, we see dollar signs in each bead of sweat?). However all women want to save their ‘dos so I was so excited to see Nicole Ari Parker’s new creation Save Your ‘Do–a stylish headband designed to wick sweat and help you maintain your hairstyle.
Actress Nicole Ari Parker invented the Save Your Do Gymwrap, which uses Edge Control Technology to absorb sweat and heat while allowing cool air in, to address the health issues in our community. I had to stifle a laugh when I read about the “Edge Control Technology” because my edges seem to lose control (read: lose their damn mind) when I exercise. ALl joking aside, our hair has to be put on the backburner and we must address our health issues.
I purchased one last week and it came today (quick processing and shipping!).
I am super excited to try it out! I am also excited to be a part of their Affiliate Program. Disclaimer: I purchased the Save Your ‘Do before knowing about the Affiliate Program–I was just super psyched to try out this product and will provide you with an unbiased review as soon as I get in a few workouts!
Ten percent of the proceeds of the gym wraps go to Sophie’s Voice Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Parker and her husband Boris Kodjoe, to honor their daughter Sophie, who has spina bifida. Sophie’s Voice Foundation’s mission is to elevate the quality of life for children and adults diagnosed with spina bifida, and to raise awareness of its prevention.
